Il progetto Randy Cat si compone di tre serie fotografiche realizzate nell’arco di un mese sul tetto di una
brownstone house a Brooklyn, New York City.
Il lavoro nasce dall’esigenza di far vivere la sensazione di decadenza che alberga nel cuore della città simbolo degli Stati Uniti, appena si lascia il tempo di vedere sotto (oppure sopra, come in questo caso) la superficie delle cose. Le donne di queste immagini vivono frammenti di esistenze solitarie in un territorio che pure è comune e che si trova di fatto isolato dal resto del mondo; tre aspetti di un’America che non è più, che fatica ad essere oggi,ma che potrebbe domani ritrovarsi rinunciando agli orpelli che inevitabilmente ne appesantiscono il percorso alla continua ricerca di un nuovo modello, di una nuova identità.
The work comes from the need to convey the feeling of decadence that dwells in the heart of the city emblem of the United States, when you leave time to see beneath (or above, as in this case) the surface of things. The women in these images live fragments of solitary lives in a territory which is common at the same time and isolated from the rest of the world; three aspects of an America that is no longer, that find it hard to be today, but tomorrow it could find itself giving up the useless tinsel that will inevitably weigh down the path to the ongoing search for a new model, a new identity.
